Win a Free Air Fryer
The buzz word in cooking these days is Air Frying. It sounds like it’s too good to be true, frying with calorie-free air instead of oil. Frying in oil is messy, dangerous, and not to mention filled with fat calories. Air Frying on certain foods can eliminate all the danger and mess as well as 75 percent of the calories which come from immersing food in oil to cook. I love air frying, however not all food can be air fried! Things like tempura or beer batter do not work at all. Flour coatings which have not been previously deeply fried are hard to get great results with, but I will give you some tips and recipes here that will help. If you like wings or you love French fries, as well as 100’s of other fried foods, I will tell it can be achieved in most air fryers, and in some cases like the chicken wings, I believe they come out better.
How air frying works is there is a massive convection fan-like in your oven, but instead of being on the side or back wall like in a typical oven, the convection fan in an air fryer is set directly over the heating element. This gives very intense, forced hot air. What happens to food situated under the fan and heating element is if food is lightly kissed by oil, the rapid hot circulating air gives food the crispy texture we usually achieve through frying. See the recipes below for my crunchy wings and crispy fries; they are so good you will not believe they have fewer calories. How do you decide which air fryer to buy? I love my Paula Deen XXL that I purchased on ShopHQ; it is the hottest one I have used. However, it is a substantial piece of equipment. My niece Amber who lives in Vancouver, cannot consider one this size in her apartment. So, I would advise you to buy one that accommodates your living space. They come as small as 2 quarts and go up to 12.5 quarts. Other variables are considered wattage, coatings, accessories price point. Most every retailer in America has at least 1 model of the air fryer. There are tons of cooking groups on Facebook where you can ask folks what their favorite air fryer, and they is share recipes too. My favorite air fryer recipe group on Facebook is “Josephine’s Air Fryer Recipe Group.”
If you would like to win an air fryer, I will be giving one away tomorrow morning between the hours of 10 am eastern and noon.
